Specializing in crafting unique shared experiences that connect people together, Alana will create a beautiful Charcuterie Picnic just for you. Using locally sourced ingredients she will handcraft your shared picnic with all the personal touches you deserve on your wedding day. And what is a picnic without cozy blankets and beautiful decor!? Your picnic experience will include warm and neutral textiles and an elegant bouquet of florals.

I'm your photographer, event coordinator, and new sailing partner! I will be with you every step of the way from the very first email, to the moment you step aboard to set sail, right through to the delivery of your gallery and beyond. I'm here for you! I'll be the one climbing over life-lines and hanging off of shrouds to capture the perfect pictures of you taking the helm and taking each other's hand in marriage.
Offering this experience is a way of putting together my two passions: Photography and Sailing! As a Vancouver Island based photographer and fellow sailor, I am shamelessly in love with my island home and love nothing more than sharing it with new friends. I am just as comfortable on a sailboat as I am on land! Knowing all of the best angles to shoot from on a boat helps me to focus on capturing each love filled moment as it unfolds out on the sea.

'Desiderata' & Skipper Darren
Your voyage will depart from beautiful "Sidney By The Sea" at Port Sidney Marina. 'Desiderata' is a 40' C+C sailboat meticulously cared for by her owner Skipper Darren. Darren is a qualified Sail Canada instructor who will give you an "Introduction to Sailing" with a hands on learning experience and a chance to take the helm. Jump in the cockpit and lend a hand or relax on the foredeck.
You will navigate through the beautiful Gulf Islands and whether you're a novice or experienced sailor, you will have the opportunity to sail and laugh as you experience a beautiful sail with Skipper Darren.

What about booking as an anniversary celebration or a vow renewal?
Yes, yes, yes! I LOVE this idea! These packages offer an experience for you and your partner to have a romantic and unique experience together, whether you have said your vows already or not. It's a wonderful way to renew your vows and celebrate your love and marriage out on the sea together.
Where is the boat based?
Desiderata's home port is in Sidney on Vancouver Island at Port Sidney Marina. Sidney is located approximately 30 min from the city of Victoria.
Where will we sail?
Sidney is perfectly situated as an ideal entry point into the stunning archipelago of the Gulf Islands. We will sail from Port Sidney Marina to nearby Gulf Islands although exact island destinations will be determined on the day of based on weather.
Do we have to have any previous sailing experience?
Not at all! Skipper Darren will walk you through the basics and will ensure that all safety requirements are met prior to embarking on our journey. You can be as active in the sailing portion of your day as you want with the chance to take the helm and trim the sails. There truly is nothing quite like the feeling of the wind filling your sail and propelling you forward. It's a unique experience that you will never forget!
What happens if the weather is bad?
We always hope for the best when it comes to weather, but if there is one thing you can count on in the Pacific Northwest it is a chance of rain! If there is light to moderate rain we will still head out on the water. Desiderata has a covered cockpit and a cozy cabin to escape the elements. However, if the winds are above 20 knots, Skipper Darren will make the call to reschedule. We will be in direct contact should this happen to discuss rescheduling options.
Do we need a wedding officiant for our elopement? If yes, can you recommend one?
It's up to you! You can choose to have a Commitment Ceremony which is a very real ceremony where you commit your lives to eachother by saying your vows and exchanging rings but is not legally binding. It can be performed by a friend or family member or just the two of you.
Or, we can arrange to have a wedding officiant come on board to make it official. A list of officiants we have worked with in the past will be provided for you.
Are these packages customizable?
Yes! Although these packages are designed to make things as simple as possible for you to just walk aboard and say "I Do", the little details matter! It is your day, so you get to call the shots. We have put together a list of options for you to add to your day including custom stationary packages, extra florals, personalized keepsakes and even an option for a small reception at the dock following your cruise for friends and family to celebrate with you. I would love to chat about all of your ideas!
What if I have a food allergy? Do you accommodate for Special dietary restrictions?
Yes! Let us know of any allergies, dietary restrictions or preferences ahead of time and Alana will customize a charcuterie board just for you. Vegan and Gluten Free options are available.
Is there a space to change into our wedding attire onboard?
Yes! There is a private space in the cabin below deck to change in. You can bring your wedding attire onboard where it will be safely stowed until your ceremony. There is a small bathroom in the cabin with a large mirror for you to refresh and make yourself feel beautiful and ready to say "I Do!"
